BIOGRAPHY
Narmine Sadeg
Born in Iran, lives and works in Paris.
Narmine Sadeg studied visual arts at Tehran university and at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris where she was a student of Christian Boltanski. Being Interested in theoretical research, she pursued a PhD on interferences of painting and writing at Paris-Diderot University. This research, which questioned the permeability of the borders of different artistic mediums, became essential in the development of a multidisciplinary practice henceforth with a strong tendency for the use of language and writing.
Narmine Sadeg’s work reveals a sensitive observation of society and the world around us, questioning cultural conditionings and intimate feelings of individuals caught up in this society. In her investigations we notice some traces of anthropological procedures and references to History.
In recent years she has exhibited at Musée d’Art Moderne – MAM, in Paris (2014), at Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo – MAXXI, in Rome (2015), at Eric Dupont Gallery in Paris (2015), at Musée d’Art Contemporain – MAC, in Marseille (2018).
Narmine Sadeg has been professor in the Art department of Bordeaux-Montaigne University since 2001 and co-directs with Jan Baetens an online art magazine, Place, since 2019.
